When we opened our gym one year ago we had no idea who was going to walk through our doors. During that time it’s been an absolute pleasure to watch good people from all walks of life, ages and personalities come together to form a solid team that helps each other reach their common goals. We couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of people.
So we decided there was no better way to celebrate than to do what we do best…try and choke and submit each other and then talk about it over drinks afterwards. This was our second in-house competition at SBG Scarborough and with 11 members signed up to challenge themselves in a friendly submission-only tournament, things were going to be fun!
Everyone had a blast and the matches did not disappoint. Although not everyone was able to attend, it was great to have a good portion of our team gather together to enjoy what we have all helped to achieve. As a coach, it was great to see the fruits of our athletes’ hard work and to watch them develop over time; not only in Jiu-jitsu, but in various aspects of their lives. It’s never easy to challenge yourself to grow and learn in a situation with unpredictable outcomes. So great work to all those that put themselves out there and competed!
With stellar performances, congratulations goes out to Tom ‘the Polish Assassin’ for demonstrating great Jiu-Jitsu and winning the tournament. We still think that Tom was a former Polish assassin but he still denies this to this day.
Last but not least, a Big Thank You to all those that have helped us get to this milestone. Without the help of friends, family, coaches, SBG, and our students, all of this would not have been possible.
The future of SBG Scarborough looks bright!
